Rocki: Guinea Pig Guinea Pig aged 1 year 4 months

Rocki is a female guinea pig, about a year old, who was given up due to allergies in the family. She is a very social guinea pig with people, she loves petting and always comes to the front of her cage to see who might be there to pet her. She loves carrots and other vegetables.

Roxie: Chihuahua/Dachshund Dog aged 3 years 5 months

Roxy's foster mom reports that Roxy is beautiful, friendly, gets along well with everyone (other dogs and kids). She is playful enough that she even gets grumpy older dogs to play. She loves naps and snuggling under the blankets. The foster family members have been trying to talk her into pooping outside but puppy pads often work well for Chihuahuas...its hard to feel safe enough to do your business outside when you are that small!

Stella Rose: Persian Cat aged 1 year 6 months

Stella Rose (female) is all white and sweet and very fluffy! She is a bit of a diva! She is being kept with another cat available for adoption (Louie), and she is the calmer of the two. Stella Rose is shy at first, but once she gets to know you she will nap close to you.

Both cats are pure-bred Persian (we believe), declawed, fully litter-box trained, good with dogs and other cats (their foster mom has a dog and a 15 year old cat and both Louie and Stella Rose approached them with no hesitation). Both animals require regular brushing due to their long, beautiful, Persian hair. They look forward to their morning breakfast of wet cat food and are waiting in the kitchen as the house wakes up.

Tara: Domestic Medium Hair Cat aged 1 year 1 month

Tara came to us with 6 kittens that were about 10 days old. She was a fabulous mom......very attentive and patient. They all got adopted quickly, and all on the same day, which was very hard for Mama Tara. It was quite an adjustment but she's gotten used to her new normal and has really come into her own. She's very sweet and continues to become more playful and affectionate. She loves to rub against your leg and follow you around. Her foster family slowly introduced her to their dogs and she was completely unfazed. She coexists with them with zero issues. Her foster mom really thinks she would like the company of other pets. She's about 1 year old.....old enough to not be a crazy kitten but still young enough to be playful and has a lifetime ahead of her. She is now spayed and fully vetted. She's an awesome young cat!

Coconut: Domestic Medium Hair Cat aged 16 weeks

Ok, so I may have more than a passing resemblance to the children’s book character, Skippy Jon Jones, but I don’t think I’m a chihuahua. I love to play with my littermates, and sleep curled up in a ball. I’m definitely first at the food bowl, that’s for sure. I am still kind of confused about what humans are, and if they are supposed to be nice or to be feared, so I do tend to err on the side of caution and run away and hide. If I’m going to live with a human long term, they should probably be really patient with me because I am going to be hiding out for a bit until I feel comfortable. But I'm worth the patience!

Phoenix: Beagle Dog aged 10 years 6 months

Phoenix (AKA Toots) is a sweet 10 year old female beagle. She is house trained and knows some of the common commands. She rides well in the car and is good on a leash. Toots is calm, affectionate and cuddly!

She is currently living with a senior lab and they get along great. We don't know how she would do with cats or young children since her foster family does not have either. She is becoming more active now that her bad teeth were removed and as she is recovering from that surgery. She now loves running around in the foster family's fenced in yard.

She is going to make a great companion dog and is getting happier every day!

Asher: Cockatiel Bird aged 15 years 7 months

Asher and Addison are beautiful, adult, Normal Grey cockatiels. They are a bonded pair and are looking for a home with someone who has experience and a love for birds. These birds were surrendered to AEAR because the previous owner was an elderly gentleman who could no longer properly care for them.

Their previous home and diet were not ideal. The new owner would need to provide an adequate cage with room to explore, stimulate them with fun toys and allow them outside cage time. They also would need to provide them a variety of perches, feed them a healthy diet and continue to introduce them to fresh fruits, vegetables, and grains.

They appear to be in good health and both preen themselves and grind their beaks. Their wings are not clipped, and their feathers are in great shape except for Addison who has some sparse spots on her crest area. It is unknown at this time if it is from Asher or just a small area of low plumage. There has been no hissing from either bird.

Not much is known about their past, but the foster mom feels they were possibly handled at one point in their lives. They are both vocal and make the cheeriest chirps and whistles and enjoy being in the company of their foster mom and foster feathered siblings. The foster mom is working on earning their trust, so they will be able to step up, be petted and scratched, but as of this time they are very timid and keep to themselves.

Whoever chooses to adopt these birds will need to be patient, loving but with time, they will make great friends.

Stella: Cocker Spaniel Dog aged 3 years 6 months

Stella is a pretty girl who just might want to be your shadow! She has been following her foster mom around and is nervous initially when someone new enters the house but settles down quickly if she can hide behind someone she trusts. Her foster mom says she is getting better with regular visitors that come and go from the house. She is scared of loud noises and will try to hide when she hears them. She is also unsure about car rides and leashes yet. Stella will need some training and additional experiences for her to reach her full potential!
She shows some treat aggression with other dogs but it is easily managed by doling out treats when the dogs have a little space from each other (3 feet or so) .She hasn't shown aggression over food bowls. Stella loves balls and has them placed all around the house so no one has an excuse not to throw them for her. She also loves to cuddle, give kisses, and wag her tail. Her foster mom declares Stella joy to have around! If you have the time to do a bit of training and are able to exercise Stella regularly, Stella may be just right for you!

Bear: Bichon Frise/Chihuahua Dog aged 2 years 3 months

Is Bear the dog for you?

· Bear LOVES being outside.
o Bear enjoys chasing the rabbits, squirrels, and birds he discovers in the yard along with his foster siblings. When the weather is nice, it is hard to get Bear in the house because he wants to feel the sun on his nose and the wind blow through his fur. He also likes to run up and down the shared fence and talk to his furry neighbors. A fenced in backyard would be best for Bear and make him VERY happy!

· Bear loves his bones and toys.
o Bear will fetch toys, but he likes to take them and place them in a pile for him to enjoy later. He also tends to find all the chew bones in the house and put them in his little pile too. He shows slight toy and bone possessiveness and will do little “grrrs” when one of the other dogs get close to his toy pile. He never has bitten or shown any strong aggression to any person or the other dogs. Sharing just does not come naturally to him.

· Bear plays well with other dogs his size.
o Bear is in a home where other fostered dogs come and go. He gets along the best with dogs that are in the 10-20 lb. range. He will play, cuddle and lick his foster siblings. He would do great in a home with another small dog. And no worries if the other dog is a little stinker. It appears the stinkier the dog, the more Bear gets along with.

· Other Bear tidbits.
o He is a two-year-old, 8-pound, Bichon Frise/Chihuahua mix.
o He was a little timid when he came into his foster home but warmed up fast to his foster siblings and family.
o He loves human companionship and isn’t a “one person” dog.
o He is housebroken.
o He has shown no destructive behavior except chewing on a pen once.
o If Bear isn’t playing or chewing on a bone, he is probably napping on his back in the most comfortable spot he can find. That “spot” is him burrowed in a soft, fluffy, fleece blanket with pillows surrounding him.
o An ideal home for Bear would be one where there isn’t a lot of people traffic in and out of the house. He is nervous when someone new comes into the home and will bark and stay close to his foster parents. He HAS to be supervised (or placed in another room) when new people come over. It takes about three visits from a new person for him to feel comfortable around them. Because of this behavior and his slight toy possessiveness, he cannot be in a home with children or children coming to the house regularly.
o Lastly, an ideal owner would be someone familiar with small dogs and their small dog behavior. Overall, Bear is a very sweet companion who enjoys people and other dogs; he can just be a little turd sometimes.

Peanut: Parakeet (Other) Bird aged 1 year 9 months

Peanut is a very sweet girl budgie. She is a beautiful mix of aqua, yellow, white, black and dark blue. She is currently being kept with several other budgies that arrived at Animal Control together. The budgies are not yet hand tame but we are working on it and they are becoming less skittish. They will need to go to a home that is willing to let them out of the cage for exercise. They have been good about returning to the cage when it is left open, along with a little coaxing.

Tucker is a very sweet male budgie that is particularly attached to another budgie, Mo. He is a pretty blue and white and is the most vocal of the bunch of 5 currently being kept together in a group that came from Animal control. The budgies are not yet hand tame but we are working on it and they are becoming less skittish. They will need to go to a home that is willing to let them out of the cage for exercise. Birdie: Guinea Pig Guinea Pig aged 1 year 5 months

We are looking for a home that will take both Birdie and June together. These two sweet
girls are looking for a family to call their own!

Birdie is a gray and white crested guinea pig who’s approximately 6-12 months old. She’s squirmy when you first pick her up, but does great once you’re seated with her. The first few minutes in your lap are all about nosing around and burrowing in search of the optimal comfort spot for a nap. Yes, this sweet, gentle girl will nap on your lap and express her contentment with purrs and chuts! On nice days Birdie enjoys being taken outside and placed in a pen to graze on pesticide and fertilizer free grass. Birdie’s favorite vegetables are green leaf and romaine lettuce, yellow peppers, and celery leaves. The occasional blueberry is one of her favorite treats.

Both girls are a bit overweight and could use some extra care with their diet as well as a generously sized cage (7.5 - 10 sq. ft) to facilitate more exercise. An ideal diet would be unlimited Timothy hay, a small serving of fruit-free / nut-free pellets, and no more than 1 cup of vegetables per day. Due to their weight issue it would be best to limit fruit to 1 or 2 times weekly.

June: Guinea Pig Guinea Pig aged 1 year 5 months

We are looking for a home that will adopt both June and Birdie. These two sweet
girls are looking for a family to call their own!

June is a crested tri-color guinea pig who’s approximately 1 to 1.5 years old. She’s gentle-natured and has adorable floppy ears. Once familiar with her surroundings she’s not shy about approaching your hand in search of veggies and will even hang around for a gentle pet. When the refrigerator opens June wheeks loudly in anticipation for her treats. June tends to freeze and/or make a squealing sound when nervous, but relaxes with gentle pets, soft words, and treats. Are you seeing a pattern here? The way to June's heart is through her stomach! Her favorite veggies are green leaf and romaine lettuce, yellow peppers, cilantro, and cucumber. Kiwi did not make June's favorites list! She is great with lap time and doesn’t get antsy or squirmy.

Lucy: Shar Pei/Labrador Retriever Dog aged 8 years 3 months

You want to really RESCUE a dog who needs it...meet Lucy. This girl has so much potential but she needs a family that will be patient and see the potential in her and work on helping her reach it!

Odds have been stacked against her:
1. She's black.
2. She's shy with strangers.
3. She's older.
4. She'd be best as an only dog or with a submissive or small dog.

BE LUCY'S HERO!!!

Lucy is part lab and part shar pei...our best guess. She certainly looks and acts like it! She's a special dog that deserves a special family.

She is very shy at first with new people and needs a patient and understanding owner. Ironically she LOVES kids and has been excited to see all the kids she meets.

She lives with other dogs of all sizes but is "top dog" so would be best suited with a submissive dog. Lucy is housebroken.

Lucy's foster family has a fenced yard and she is learning leash walking. Having a fenced yard would make Lucy most happy. Please no invisible fences.

Lucy is super special and deserves a special family of her own.
Please visit our website www.aear.org and review the entire application process.

Caramel: American Rabbit Rabbit aged 11 months

Caramel is a sweet, adorable bunny! She is friendly and likes to be petted. Although she is a bit shy about being picked up (very common for rabbits!), once her foster mom has her in her arms she settles. The best news is she is litter box trained! She has the run of her foster family's kitchen and always goes back into her cage to potty. Caramel likes to explore and look out the window! She is still a bit wary of the dog of the house, but is getting used to her. She was born on June 2nd, 2019 and weighs about 5 pounds. She will be spayed on March 29th.

Sylvester: Domestic Medium Hair Cat aged 1 year 7 months

Sylvester is an EXTREMELY outgoing young cat, both sweet and funny! He is an explorer and loves to play, get attention and follow people around. He also likes to be held and petted. His foster family does not have children so they are not sure how he would be around kids, but he does great at Pet Therapy (through AEAR) with the residents at a nursing home. He also likes to "talk" to his foster family!

He currently lives with three cats. He is good with the other cats. He is a bit more playful, being younger than his foster siblings, but he is so sweet they still get along well.

Sylvester is an easy cat to take care of, he uses his litter box and scratching boards. He does like to jump on counters and his foster family is trying to discourage that.

If you are are looking for a friendly, playful young cat, Sylvester might be your guy!

Oreo: Guinea Pig Guinea Pig aged 4 years 5 months

Meet Oreo! She shares a cage with her pal Truffles.

Oreo tends to be more outgoing of the two. She also will tend to be out of the hiding places more.
Although she tends to be on the smaller side, she tends to eat the majority of the food.

Truffles is more shy at first and will probably not come out of the hut the first day except for a little bit of food. She will come out of her shell though after a few days. She is a long haired guinea pig which makes her look like she has a severe case of bedhead.

Their foster mom thinks they could live with most animals as long as the other animals don't get too curious!

Daily care of them consists of checking the water bottle level, refilling their hay, pellets, and chopping up vegetables for them. Dinner consists of hay, pellets, and vegetables again. It is good to vary the types of vegetables you give them. At night, they get their cage cleaned out, which is changing the bedding and towels. They also get Vitamin C since guinea pigs do not produce that on their own.

We would like to see Oreo and Truffles adopted together as they have been cage mates for over 3 years now.

Nanni is a little Chihuahua, about 7 or 8 years old. She was returned November 30, 2018 because her owner had medical issues and was unable to take care of her. She she needs a special caretaker in a preferably quiet home who can patiently work with her and earn her trust. She is a sweet dog who will be an awesome companion for the right person! Nanni is housebroken and quiet, she truly is a sweet and easy dog, although she did spend several days in a crate before she decided she liked her foster family! Blue: Chihuahua/Terrier Dog aged 8 months

Blue is a 5 pound mixed breed puppy. His face looks like a chihuahua, but his body looks more terrier/dachshund. While he looks black in pictures, he is actually a dark, steely “blue” with tan markings around his face, ears, neck, and sides. He is very sweet and wants to be with his people all the time. He’d love to be a lap dog or carried around!

Miss Stanley: Guinea Pig Guinea Pig aged 9 months

Miss Stanley is an easy guinea pig to love! She is a pretty mellow girl, so its easy to handle her. When she's in the playpen with the foster family kids, she just sits in their laps while they pet her and is calm. She's not too noisy; she really only squeaks when she hears the bag of food/hay being opened. She also enjoys a little salad of lettuce and carrots. If you are looking for a single guinea pig to love, she just might be your girl!

Grace: Pomeranian/Chow Chow Dog aged 4 years 1 month

Grace is an adorable four-year-old, 20 lb American Eskimo Dog/Pomeranian mix (which is our best guess).

Grace lives in a home with three other dogs and has found a friend in her foster brother Bear, a young 8 lb, male Chihuahua mix, also available for adoption. Their daily play includes chasing each other like cat and mouse. Grace is an active, energetic dog who would do best in a home with another active, younger playful dog or with active family members that will take her on several brisk walks or jogs daily in addition to romping and playing with her.

Grace is very friendly and appreciates all the love and attention you can give her. She enjoys walks, playing in the snow, being petted and brushed and laying by your side. She is potty trained and sleeps through the night, no problem.

Grace is super sweet and would be an excellent addition to a loving home.

Aquamarine: Parakeet (Other) Bird aged 1 year 5 months

AEAR received a bunch of budgies (about 15) from Waukegan Animal Control where they were turned in by their owner. Aquamarine is from this group. The budgies are not tame but some have been taught to eat millet out of hands and certainly could become more tame with some patience and attention. They are beautiful and sweet birds!

Zephyr: Beagle/Terrier Dog aged 8 months

Hi, my name is Zephyr! And yes, my ears really do stand up like that. My left ear stands up all the time and my right ear is beginning to stick up more and more often! It's pretty silly looking. I currently weigh almost 10 pounds and am a terrier/beagle mix. I'll probably mature to be a small-medium sized dog.

I am a sweet, playful, easy-going puppy. I love to play with anything that rolls or moves, love to run outside, and enjoy playing with my sister, Sprite. But, my VERY favorite thing is curling up under the blankets on the couch. I really like to snuggle with my people. I am very smart and love performing for treats. I am working on "sit", easily come when called, and stand up on my hind legs. I would be a great member of just about any family. I'm a pretty easy puppy!

Zephyr is crate and potty pad trained. She sleeps through the entire night in her crate.

Approved families will pay a $100.00 deposit to ensure they will get their puppy spayed/neutered. If you go to one of our participating vets when your puppy is six-months-old to get him/her spayed/neutered we will pay for it. if you choose to go to another vet you would pay for it. After you spay/neuter your puppy you would send us proof and we would refund your deposit.

Once we receive your application the adoption screener will send you an e-mail. They are not first come first serve, it’s the best suited families for each puppy.

Zahra: German Shepherd Dog/German Shorthaired Pointer Dog aged 3 years 3 months

Zahra, is AMAZING! She is 3 years old and a shepherd/pointer mix (with the best ears, ever!) She’s a bit over 50 lbs.

She is completely housebroken and doesn’t jump, chew, or dig. She knows shake, sit, and stay (and will hold a stay for a looooooong time). She loves to play with other dogs and kids and run around the back yard. She likes squeaky toys and destroying chew toys (but will not even touch her human foster sister's toys!) and playing fetch. She also likes to snuggle with her foster family while watching TV and sleeping.

She is super strong her foster mom was concerned about leash manners at first. However, after just 2 walks, she is already much better. Her foster mom guesses she knows how to heel, but she hasn't figured out the command that Zahra knows.

She does not beg for people food, but she is not picky about dog food and has easily eaten anything given to her.

Personality-wise, she is loving but not needy. She is not aggressive, but will growl at strangers that come into the house until she is introduced.

Zahra is, really, as close to perfect as a dog can get!

Austin: Beagle Dog aged 8 months

This is Austin. He will be ready to go to his new home on December 22 when he is eight-weeks-old. We are currently accepting and screening through applications for all of the puppies. They are hound mixes, is our best guess. There are eight puppies in our care. They were found abandoned on someone’s property.

Tori: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie Dog aged 10 years 4 months

Tori came from a home with three other dogs, a cat and a bird. The owner died. Unfortunately Tori was not well cared for. As of this writing (Nov. 5) we still need to get her into the vet to get her teeth cleaned.

Tori is slowly adjusting into her foster home. She is very quiet and shy. She prefers to be around people and other dogs but is not outwardly affectionate at this time. She seems kind of shell-shocked. She is not housebroken at all and so we've been working on that along with having her wear a diaper. We think she is deaf.

Tori needs a special home that will be patient as she gains confidence.

Spike: Bichon Frise/Chihuahua Dog aged 1 year 11 months

Spike is a one and half-year-old, male Bichon Frise/Chihuahua mix. He is a VERY friendly and playful dog. He got along with his foster siblings the moment he entered the house. He spends his days playing “fetch” with squeaky toys, napping on his back and when he is outside, he enjoys chasing the rabbits and squirrels he discovers in his foster family’s yard. He is currently being fostered with his brother, Bear. They were separated in different homes for over a year, and both Spike and Bear were reunited after both owners surrendered them.

Spike gets along great with his brother, Bear, and his two foster siblings (a male chihuahua and a senior lab mix). Spike will (gently) initiate play with his foster siblings. Spike also will curl up to the senior lab mix while Spike chews his bone or to take a small nap. Spike likes human companionship. He wants to cuddle by your side or on your lap when he is ready to nap. He will sleep through the night with no potty breaks needed. He has shown no destructive behavior, toy, bone or food possessiveness. He is a delightful dog to have around!

Sprite: Beagle/Terrier Dog aged 8 months

Sprite is an energetic, bouncy, playful puppy. She is incredibly sweet and personable. She enjoys a few brief moments of being petted and snuggling, then is ready to play again! Her favorite things are fetch (she's surprisingly good about bring toys back to be thrown again), running outside, and laying on every heat vent she can find! Like most hounds, Sprite is a vocal puppy. She barks when she is playing or excited or happy. Sprite would love an active family that wants to play or include her in their activities. She is already great with kids and works hard to please. If you're looking for a dog that wants to play and will keep you entertained, she'd be a great fit!

She is the smallest of the litter, and has a terrier build, with long, thin legs and petite body. She currently weighs 7 pounds and will mature to be a small-medium size.

Sprite is crate and potty pad trained. She sleeps through the entire night in her crate.

Approved families will to pay a $100.00 deposit to insure they will get their puppy spayed/neutered. Walter: German Shepherd Dog/Hound Dog aged 1 year 4 months

Walter is easy to love! He is a young dog, probably about a year old (based on his super white teeth and because he still acts sometimes a little like a puppy). He loves to play with toys, chew Nylabones and play with his foster dog siblings in his foster home.

He is 100% housebroken. He does like to have human company out in the yard. He is also very easy going. He is docile and friendly. He hardly barks at all. He doesn't jump on people, which is great because he is 88 pounds.

Currently, Walter is crated when his foster family is not home to watch him, just to be safe.He doesn't like being crated, however, and is always very happy to see his foster family when they come home to let him out of the crate. He sleeps in his foster parents' bedroom on the floor next to the bed. He sleeps all night without a peep. They tried having him sleep in a crate but he kept them up with his unhappiness about that situation.

Walter is a really good boy and will make an excellent addition to any family. His foster family doesn't have young children in their home, but he was tested with younger children while at Waukegan Animal Control and did fine.

Tank: Beagle Dog aged 8 months

Tank is a relaxed, easy-going, incredibly mellow puppy. He is the biggest of the puppies (more than twice Sprite’s weight), hence his name. He enjoys lounging around, watching the other puppies play, joining in occasionally, and being held. He is very sweet and very affectionate, and loves his people.

His favorite things are laying in his bed, chew toys, and having his ears and face rubbed. Tank is working on nicely sharing his toys and family with the other puppies. Occasionally, he needs to be reminded that he is not the boss. He would do great with an owner that is the “top dog” and wants an incredibly loyal, sweet best friend.

He will be ready to go to his new home on December 22 when he is eight-weeks-old. We are currently accepting and screening through applications for all of the puppies. They are hound mixes, is our best guess. There are eight puppies in our care. They were found abandoned on someone’s property.

Mocha: Beagle Dog aged 8 months

This is Mocha. She will be ready to go to her new home on December 22 when she is eight-weeks-old. We are currently accepting and screening through applications for all of the puppies. They are hound mixes, is our best guess. There are eight puppies in our care. They were found abandoned on someone’s property.

You can apply for a puppy if you’d like. Approved families would have to pay a $100.00 deposit to insure they will get their puppy spayed/neutered.

Bosley: Beagle Dog aged 8 months

Bosley is a sweet, snuggly, easy-going puppy. He is built like a basset hound, with a long body and very short, thick legs. He enjoys playing, like all puppies, but is just as happy to be mellow and sit in your lap. His favorite things are squeaky toys, licking your nose, being held, and having his long floppy ears rubbed. This guy is as fabulous as they come!

Nibbles is a large, white, male rabbit. He has light brown spots, ears, and eyeliner. His dark brown eyes are so sweet! His fur is INCREDIBLY soft and he loves to be petted. He happily hops right over when he sees you coming and waits for a snack or to be petted. His favorite snack seems to be sweet potatoes, which he will eagerly come sit with you to munch on or stand up to look around for!

Nibbles is impressively well litter box trained and has been a very clean rabbit, so far. He is curious and seems to genuinely like people.

Roscoe: Pit Bull Terrier Dog aged 5 years 8 months

Meet sweet Roscoe! Roscoe is an owner surrender; he was given up by his owners when they fell on hard times and could not afford to take care of him. He is a friendly, happy guy.

Roscoe would be best as an only dog. He currently lives with a family with a nine-year-old daughter and is fabulous with everyone in the family. You can see photos and updates on Roscoe by going to our Facebook page Animal Education and Rescue.

In Roscoe's previous foster home he lived with cats and did well with them. He was good with some dogs and not good with others. For that reason we think he'd do best as an only dog.

He's housebroken and really chill. He loves to just hang out and get cuddled.

Caesar: Domestic Short Hair/Russian Blue Cat aged 1 year 5 months

Caesar is an incredibly sweet and outgoing cat. He was found as a stray on a big property because he walked right up to the property owner and said, "hey, please rescue me!"

His foster family said he's so outgoing he's more like a dog than a cat really! He's a great, young cat looking for a forever family of his own.

Duke: German Shepherd Dog/Rottweiler Dog aged 2 years 4 months

Duke is a fabulous dog. He gets along great with all the dogs he lives with at this time. He's been friendly with all the people he meets, strangers and friends alike.

He would benefit from positive reinforcement training simply because he's young and would really bond with his owner through training.

He lives peacefully with cats. Currently he lives with a ten-year-old boy. He's housebroken and isn't destructive with us. We haven't needed to crate him but because he's new to us (as of this writing on October 24) we are putting him in a room when he can't be supervised.

He's a great dog and would make a fantastic family member.

She walks great on a leash and gets along well with other dogs. She’s pretty mellow but also has a little puppy, playful side to her. She’s a good eater and likes her chew bones too.

Skittles: Domestic Medium Hair Cat aged 8 months

Skittles is a feisty kitten! He loves to play, and most of the time when his foster family hears an animal running at top speed through the house, it's him. Everything is a toy to him (backpack straps, pieces of paper, chapstick, pens that he knocks off the desk, etc.). He is a kitten that will keep you laughing. He is litter box trained and LOVES to be with people. He is very affectionate and is used to being handled and held often. He will follow you around wherever you go like a baby duck following its mama. Skittles also does well with both cats and dogs, and is not afraid of even big dogs as long as they are good with cats!

Ringo: Parakeet (Other) Bird aged 12 years 7 months

*ADOPTION PENDING*

Ringo – Blue Budgie, male
Libby - Pearl Pied Cockatiel, male
Freckles – Pied Cockatiel, female
Ruby - Normal Grey Cockatiel, male

These beautiful, happy and friendly adult birds were surrendered to AEAR because the previous owner had to enter a nursing home facility and could no longer care for them. She had all the birds since they were babies and they all have been with each other their entire lives. All the cockatiels appear to have been handled because they will sit on your shoulder or lap with no problems. The foster family is continually working on earning everyone’s trust, so they will be able to step up and be petted and scratched.

Ringo, the blue budgie, will take the most work because he is a bit skittish, but still enjoys being out of his cage. They are all quite vocal and make the cheeriest chirps and whistles along with mimicked sounds, like an alarm clock, learned from their previous environment. Also, they will all chirp when you enter and leave a room which is a good sign that they enjoy human companionship. They enjoy their millet, seed/pellets, vegetables and outside cage time. They all preen themselves, grind their beaks, and their feathers are in good shape and are visibly healthy. There has been no hissing from any of the birds. Whoever chooses to adopt these birds will be getting some excellent friends!

Jackson: Border Collie/German Shepherd Dog Dog aged 4 years 9 months

This boy is the sweetest most loyal dog ever. Black dogs have such a hard time finding a forever home...be that black dog lover and consider Jackson!!

Jackson was given up by his owners because the family got two Irish Wolfhounds a few years after Jackson. Now at two-years-old they were being very aggressive towards Jackson. They felt it was in Jackson's best interest to give him up.

Jackson is such a sweet and loyal guy! He is currently living with dogs and cats. He is a bit protective of his place and people but does warm up quickly to people. He sleeps in the bedroom with the foster mom at night.

Bella: Maltese Dog aged 5 years 5 months

Bella is a precious dog that's been through a lot recently. Her previous owners never tended to her medically. Because of that she had two large mammary tumors, ear infections, eye infections and dry eyes when she arrived.

We raised the money and had the tumors removed. The doctor said that she has numerous very small tumors in the same area that at some point if they grow will need to be addressed. We did not have the lumps tested for cancer because we would not treat the cancer if she had it. We are hoping for the best and hope that someone will adopt Bella and just love her every day! Bella's ear infections and eye infections are cleared up. She will always need eye drops for her dry eyes.

If you are looking for a dog who is calm, loving and friendly, Bella may be the girl for you! Bella is a maltese mix currently staying with a foster family. Her foster siblings include a senior female lab mix, a senior female sharpei, and a four year old male chihuahua. Everyone gets along fine and she is determined to make the diva chihuahua play with the tug toy with her.

Bella enjoys naps, being outside, playing tuggy, being combed and eating. A typical day includes a long comfortable nap on a fuzzy blanket and exploring the yard, along with some tuggy time. She is let outside periodically throughout the day and will hang out by the door if she needs to go out. The foster family keeps puppy pads by the door as a back up and she has used one once. There have been no other accidents.
